Winnona Park Neighborhood Association Meeting - Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017

Join us for the Winnona Park Neighborhood Association's (WPNA) first meeting of the New Year. Be a part of the conversation and commitment to create, affirm and implement our community goals for this year and beyond.

The WPNA will hold a Community Meeting on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:00 PM. It will be held in the cafetorium at the Winnona Park Elementary School located at 510 Avery Street. The easiest entrance is to come around behind the school on the north side and enter from Poplar Circle, walking up the sidewalk past the fishpond to the doors leading directly into the cafetorium.

This meeting will feature Decatur Mayor Patti Garrett and City Commissioner Brian Smith, who will provide us with information pertaining to the City's efforts regarding the possible purchase of the 77 acres owned by the United Methodist Childrens Home, and various complete streets efforts in and around our neighborhood.

Also presenting will be Lt. Jennifer Ross, the Public Information Officer for the Decatur Police Department. She will offer information about 2016 crime statistics, DPD chase policy, and predictive policing software. There will be time for Q&A from the membership for both presentations.

The membership will also be voting to finalize changes to our Bylaws eliminating term limits for officers. We will have our usual Committee Reports, and this meeting will feature annual budget approval and election of WPNA officers. There will be discussion about Chair vacancies for the Social, Environment & Infrastructure, and Zoning & Development committees, as we actively seek additional help in pursuing the association's activities. We will close the meeting as always with a door prize raffle for members.
